Practice Description

Jill C. Penn is a member of the Firm's Securities and Corporate Governance Litigation Practice Specialty Group and has been involved in business litigation on internal investigations, director and officer litigation, securities litigation, and class action defense. Ms. Penn is also a member of the Firm's Real Estate and Construction Practice Speciality Group, in which she has been involved in insurance coverage disputes, contract disputes, and the removal of mechanic's and materialmen's liens from properties. She has also litigated disputes regarding contracts, fiduciary duties between partners, fraud, conspiracy, and intestate distribution of property.

  • Representing former officers and directors of NASDAQ-listed telecommunications company in class action lawsuit alleging violation of federal securities laws, including interlocutory appeal to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals vacating class certification order

  • Representing NASDAQ-listed company specializing in voice automation software in class action lawsuit alleging violation of federal securities laws, including interlocutory appeal to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals

  • Assisted in the representation of NYSE-listed financial services company in SEC examination

  • Assisted in the representation of the audit committee of Fortune 500 technology outsourcing company in connection with an internal investigation on issues raised by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002

  • Representing construction company in recoupment of monies expended in anticipation of commercial development
